Wilderness First Responder Recertification

3-day recertification for current WFR holders. Skills review, updated protocols, and scenario practice to keep your certification current.

Wilderness First Responder Recertification

WFR certifications are valid for 3 years. This 3-day recertification course keeps your credentials current while sharpening skills that may have gone unused. It is not a repeat of the original WFR — the pace is faster and the expectation is that you are walking in with functional knowledge.

Course Content

Mornings are devoted to lectures, discussions, and quizzes. Afternoons cover outdoor practical skills and scenarios. Sessions may be recorded for enhanced learning debrief.

Topics reviewed and updated:

  • Patient Assessment System and documentation
  • Basic Life Support (Healthcare Provider-level CPR)
  • Circulatory, respiratory, and nervous system emergencies
  • Lifts, moves, and extrications
  • Musculoskeletal injuries and splinting
  • Thermoregulation, wounds, and environmental emergencies
  • Wilderness pharmacology updates
  • Protocol and guideline updates since your last certification
  • Extended rescue scenarios

Prerequisites

Current or recently expired WFR certification (WMAI or equivalent). Contact us if your certification expired more than a year ago — you may need the full WFR course.
