Certified Medical Incident Technician: Wilderness Pro

MIT track for wilderness and expedition professionals. Advanced austere medicine skills for providers operating in remote environments far from definitive care.

Certified Medical Incident Technician: Wilderness Professional

The MIT: Wilderness Professional track develops advanced medical skills for providers operating in remote, resource-limited environments. This is not entry-level wilderness medicine — it is a hands-on intensive for professionals who already have foundational skills and need to perform at a higher level when the situation demands it.

What You'll Learn

  • Advanced patient assessment and critical thinking in austere environments
  • Life support and stabilization with emphasis on long-term patient care
  • Shock recognition and management without hospital resources
  • Airway management: full progression from basic to surgical options
  • Resuscitation techniques adapted for remote environments
  • Effective communication with patients and medical oversight
  • Documentation and handoff for extended evacuations

Waypoint's MIT: Wilderness Professional course is appropriate for guides and outfitters leading multi-day expeditions, SAR medical team leaders, military and law enforcement personnel in remote assignments, and expedition support staff.
